By Anna Davis ATC, Administrator of Fitness Operations
Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. is pleased to present this week’s female “Gamer of the Week” Award to the Winfield High School Girls Cross Country team.
The Lady Generals cross country team had an impressive outing at the AA-A West Virginia State Cross country meet in Doddridge County. They placed first overall last weekend. Winfield won by a narrow margin of 90-92, easing out first place in front of Phillip Barbour.
Of the thirteen members of Winfield’s team, seven competed in the state meet. Anna Lumadue, Savannah Hoff, Danielle Jividen, Clara Blankenship, Maggie Bennett, Isabela Robinson and Ella Wikel all placed in the top 75 of 107 runners. Anna Lumadue placed 10th, Savannah Hoff placed 24th, Danielle Jividen placed 27th, Clara Blankenship placed 28th, Maggie Bennett Placed 32nd, Isabella Robinson placed 50th and Ella Wikel placed 75th.
“The girls worked hard all year,” says coach Cam Jividen, “they all set personal records whether it be on a course or on a 5K. I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
This is the first time in Winfield’s school history for a Girls team to win the West Virginia State cross country meet. “It’s a pretty amazing feeling to accomplish something so great,” states Jividen. This past season the Lady Generals placed first in three meets, and second in two others. Now that this season is over Jividen will be saying goodbye to five seniors, including top ten finisher Anna Lumadue. “They were all great girls, I am thankful for the time and effort that they put into this sport.”
