Hand Selected Foods, Gifts, Flowers
For generations, the Meeks family has, consistently, elevated the quality of life, in Putnam County, bringing businesses, homes and jobs to our area.
The latest Meeks business, The Putnam Market, is another elevation of quality of life.
“All of our products and provisions are hand-selected, with high-quality as our priority” explains co-founder Leah Meeks. “From our flowers to our cakes and coffees to our gluten-free pastas to our baskets, gifts and fine goods.”
“You can use the term ‘Artisan’ products,” says co-founder Thor Meeks. “Putnam Market is a unique store that stands for quality and features products that you won’t find anywhere else in the area.”
“You can select from our flowers or bring in your own flowers or vase and I will create a beautiful arrangement for you to take home or deliver to your home of office,” explains Leah. “We do the same for our gift baskets.”
Thor grew up in the Meeks’ family of businesses, and learned about a solid work ethic where work hours often start before sunrise and doesn’t finish until after sunset.
A daily reminder of the Meeks’ family business legacy, the former A & L Hardware building, can be seen from the Putnam Market’s front windows.
After he graduated from Hurricane High School and she graduated from Cabell-Midland, Thor and Leah met, at Marshall University, where Thor played baseball and Leah played soccer.
The college sweethearts married June 4th, 2016.
Off the athletic fields, Thor and Leah have fantastic artistic and creative talents.
The Putnam Market provides indoor and outdoor seating for its customer’s pleasure.
Thor quickly admits that he “married up” so it isn’t surprising that the couple also married their high levels of creativity in their new venture.
In addition to the delicious coffee and pastas, Sweet B’s Pies & Treats offers numerous tasty items at The Putnam Market.
If you don’t see what you’re looking for, just ask Leah or Thor to find it. The Putnam Market happily special orders items.
This kind of great customer service is how Arthur “Chief” Meeks built his family businesses through the generations.
“We are thrilled at the support and positive responses from people,” says Leah. “Putnam County is such a great place to live and conduct business.”
