Initial Claims Can Be Done On Internet
It used to be that filing a new unemployment claim, in West Virginia, was a nightmare. You’d spend half an hour in a line, deal with a “less than nice” clerk behind the counter, and get treated like dirt because you lost your job. This wastes time that could be used to find a new job.
Adding insult to injury, in Putnam County, the WorkForce office only accepts new claims on Wednesdays.
Finally, the Mountain State is catching up with the real world.
“New claims can now be filed online so there is no need to actually report to an office to file,” says Employment Programs Office Manager Jamie Moore. “The web site is uc.workforcewv.org.”
This is great news for unemployment claim applicants as well as those that want to see a down-sizing of West Virginia’s government workers in order to save the Mountain State money.
