Nitro PD Announces HELP Program

Designed To Build Citizen Trust

Having a dead battery is never pleasant.

Now, Nitro citizens can telephone the police department to get assistance.

“The Nitro Police Department is implementing service oriented policing,” according to a post on its Facebook page. “Our first step in this initiative is outfitting all police vehicles with jumper cables. This is an effort to build trust between the community and police.”

As a husband, father and law enforcement officer, new Chief of Police Robert L. “Bobby” Eggleton, Jr., doesn’t want to see anyone stranded with a dead battery in a vulnerable situation.

If you are in danger, please call 911. If you are in a safe place, in Putnam County, please telephone dispatch at 304-586-0273. In Kanawha County, dispatch can be reached at 304-348-8111.
