The enhancement of Putnam County’s Valley Park is another step closer to happening after an official groundbreaking for the $15 million project took place, Monday, April 10th, 2017.

“It will be a process,” says Parks and Recreation Executive Director Jarrod Dean. “When we are done, Valley Park will be a highlight for the State of West Virginia and will bring families from Putnam County, Cabell County, Kentucky and Ohio. Valley Park is great today. It will be a superstar tomorrow.”

“Upon completion Putnam County will have one of the best parks in West Virginia and possibly east of the Mississippi River,” states Putnam County Commissioner Ronald Reagan Foster. “Today is a great day for our County.”

The upgrades are being done in three phases, and will include a kiddie pool, more athletic fields and an ADA compliant playground.

Depending on weather conditions, the upgrades should be completed within a few years.
