Renovating Former Patriot Coal Offices
The long-awaited opening of Marshall Health’s new Putnam County medical center is days away.
Workers are feverishly finishing renovations to the former Patriot Coal headquarters building so that patients can start getting care during the first week of April, according to Marshall University spokesperson Leah Payne.
“We are targeting a ‘soft opening’ during the first week of April,” explains Payne. “Our Grand Opening and ribbon cutting will take place in June.”
Exact costs are not available. However, it is expected that the renovation work will total several hundred thousands of dollars. Dozens of temporary construction jobs were created.
The center will move multiple care facilities into one building, making health care more convenient for doctors, nurses, and most importantly, patients.
